Summary of Canadian Immunization Committee (CIC) Recommendations for Human Papillomavirus Immunization Programs

On the basis of scientific evidence, the National Advisory Committee on Immunization (NACI) now recommends HPV immunization for males and females between 9 and 26 years of age for the prevention of HPV disease. In response to expanded indications for the quadrivalent HPV vaccine, as well as with the introduction of a new bivalent HPV vaccine, the Canadian Immunization Committee (CIC) considered the programmatic issues of the HPV vaccines and their appropriateness for inclusion in provincial and territorial routine immunization schedules.
