Recommended Immunizations for Adolescents

Just like children and adults, adolescents need immunizations too!

Some vaccines – usually received in childhood – provide lifelong protection. Others may be recommended in adolescence.

If you do not already have a card or booklet to keep track of your adolescent’s immunizations, ask your doctor, nurse or local public health office if they provide these. You can also download the CANImmunize app to track your adolescent’s immunizations. It is your responsibility to keep a record of vaccines received.

Contact your health care provider to be sure that your adolescent is up to date on all his or her childhood and adolescent immunizations. For more information about the vaccines your adolescent may need, contact your physician, nurse, pharmacist or local public health office.

Information about your province or territory's vaccine schedule can be found here.
